BIOGRAPHY of Delonte West

Delonte Maurice West was born July 26, 1983. he is an American former professional basketball player. He has played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks. He also played professionally for  Fujian Xunxing and Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association and  Texas Legends of the NBA G League. Before turning pro, West played college basketball for Saint Joseph’s University.

CAREER of Delonte West

West attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Md., where he excelled at basketball, teaming up with  future NBA player Eddie Basden. He led the Roosevelt Raiders to their first appearance in a state tournament. They reached the Maryland 4A Championship, where Delonte had 22 points and eight rebounds, but the Raiders lost 70-58. He was named the Washington Post All Met Basketball Player for averaging 20.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 3.1 steals per game. 

At Saint Joseph’s College, West established what is considered by many to be the best backlog in the country  with John R. James Nelson, winner of the Wood Award and the Naismith Award. regular season and earned an Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA tournament. Saint Joseph ended the season with a score of 30-2.

West decided to leave St. Joseph’s after a childhood campaign, where he was selected by the Boston Celtics as  24th pick in the 2004 NBA Draft. In his first season, he struggled with injuries, playing only 39 games in total, mostly on the field. bench. He has an average of 4.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. 

West was transferred to the shooting keeper position for the 2006-07 season, but showed signs of difficulty at the start of the season. He was then brought back to the role of a playmaker. West  described his childhood as “happy”, and  said  he lived with a variety of parents. During his teenage years, West says he abused drugs, harmed himself, and spent time in a children’s hospital. 

West has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder since 2008. Although he initially accepted the diagnosis, he later challenged it, suggesting  his difficulties were due to a combination of temporary depression and stress related to the lifestyle of a basketball player. 

On September 17, 2009, West was arrested for a traffic violation while riding a CanAm Spyder tricycle. During this stop, West was found to have a 9mm Beretta pistol in his belt, a Ruger .357 Magnum pistol strapped to his leg and a Remington 870 pistol in a guitar case on his back. He was later arrested and appeared in court  on November 20.

 In June 2016, a photo of Westerners begging in Temple Hills, Maryland went viral. The photo sparked speculation that West was homeless, at the suggestion of the Twitter account that took the picture and asked his followers to pray for West for his psychological issues.  West immediately denied the rumors, saying that although the photo is real, he has a home and is just helping someone who is in fact homeless, as the homeless person is quadriplegic. . 

 In January 2020, a video emerged showing West being hit on a highway in Washington, DC. On September 28, 2020, after photos  showing West begging at an intersection in Dallas, Texas were released, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban picked West up  from a gas station. Cuban paid for drug  treatment and provided West with a hotel room to stay. On January 19, 2021, reports emerged that West now has a job at a drug rehab center, where he checked in and  reunited with his mother. In October 2021, West caused a stir again, after being arrested for banging on the door of a Florida police department and cursing at officers while holding two open barrels of alcohol.
