How long do state refunds take?

Processing time varies by state, filing method and return accuracy. E-filed returns with direct deposit usually process faster than paper returns. Check your state agency for its current timeline.

States with no income tax on wages

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming do not tax wages. Tennessee and New Hampshire no longer tax wage income either. The tracker links those states to their revenue agency.

Why a refund may be delayed

Common causes include math errors, missing documents, identity checks and debts the state offsets against your refund. The agency page usually explains the reason.
