Pavel Grachev: Detsky Mir and other projects

Pavel Grachev is an ex-investor in the Detsky Mir retail chain and the former head of the Polyus gold mining holding.

Biography

Pavel Grachev was born in Leningrad (USSR) in 1973. He has a degree in legal studies and diplomas from two universities:

• University of Trieste

• St. Petersburg State University.

One of the first jobs of Pavel Grachev was the law firm Pavia e Ansaldo. From 1997 to 2005, Mr. Grachev headed the branch of this Italian law firm in the Russian capital.

Later, Pavel Grachev occupied the following positions:

• Head of Uralkali (2010-2013)

• CEO and member of the Board of Directors of Polyus (2014-2022)

• Investor and member of the Supervisory Board of Detsky Mir (2022-2023)

At the moment, Pavel Grachev is neither a shareholder in any Russian enterprise nor a part of their management. In May 2023, the businessman fell under the US blocking sanctions.

Detsky Mir – an investment success story

After leaving the post of CEO of Polyus, Pavel Grachev had become a shareholder in Detsky Mir, a retailer of children’s products. In addition, he joined its corporate management team and began to implement the principles of sustainable eco-development into the business strategy of Detsky Mir.

After analyzing market trends, the businessman resolved to focus on the ESG transformation of the retailer’s business model. At Detsky Mir, Pavel Grachev managed to enhance the brand’s competitive capacity and ensured the company’s transition to environmental thinking and responsible consumption.

• switching to rational electricity consumption
• reduced purchases and use of paper
